TULI SAFARI LODGE

Tuli Safari Lodge is situated on the banks of the Limpopo River in eastern Botswana, which is fast becoming Africa's, if not the world's, premier wildlife destination. The Lodge's roughly 25,000 acres forms a part of the 400,000 acres making up the the Limpopo cross frontier natural park wildlife enclave.

The Camp comprises of 8 thatched units, all situated within the most beautiful oasis, shaded by huge Nyala-berry trees.

All the chalets have en-suite bathrooms. We have 4 chalets sleeping two, whilst 2 sleep four, the house sleeps 8 (which is ideal for families) and the cottage sleeps 4.

All the accommodation is fully serviced. The entire camp is carpeted with emerald lawns, vibrant bougainvillea tumble over thatch, while a sparkling pool offers cool relief from the midday heat.

Children and their grandparents are always welcome at Tuli Lodge.

The lodge has a number of different dining areas. One is a beautiful typical African "Boma" complete with well stocked wine cellar. The others are on the various patios under large shady trees surrounded by acres of green lawn, invariably dotted with mongooses, vervet monkeys, baboons, bush buck and dassies.

A beautifully located swimming pool is protected by a rocky outcrop with indigenous bush and is wonderful after a walk or a game drive.

A lookout position over the Limpopo river in tranquil surroundings often yields rare bird sightings, a crocodile or elephants. This will often present unexpected and wonderful wildlife sightings.

Conference facilities and equipment are available on request.

Meals are informal and friendly affairs presided over by beautifully dressed, cheerful, local waitresses who always have a ready smile and delight in being helpful. The content of the three daily meals varies and consist of good, plentiful food in sufficient quantity and quality to more than satisfy most guests and dinner always includes a "venison special" . The lodge tariff includes three meals a day and an endless supply of tea and coffee.

The Limpopo River, when flowing, and riverine forest are home to many large crocodiles, monitor lizards and hippopotami. It is common to see the drag mark of the body of a large python which has crossed the sandy road but they are shy and secretive and are not always easily found.

Tuli is the permanent home of many raptors including both the fish eagle and the magnificent martial eagle. During summer the number and variety increase dramatically and groups of over 50 raptors are sometimes found feeding together on some bushveld delicacy. One is always able to find and study black eagles as they are also permanent residents and have a nest on one of the 'sundowner' sandstone hills overlooking the canopies of the riverine forest.

With over 350 bird species having been recorded here over the years, the trees are always alive with a variety of hornbills, rollers, woodpeckers, kingfishers and many other "Birders" delights.

Your experienced ranger and Tswana tracker will bring you closer to these magnificent animals, in one of the last unspoiled vestiges of the bushveld in Africa.

The well-trained, friendly game rangers have amazing knowledge of animals, birds and trees. Game drives through spectacular and impressive African countryside commence at 6 am and 4 pm. The variety in the terrain and easy spotting of game guarantees an interesting experience. Additional drives or walks can be arranged on request.

The thrill of night time game viewing with the chance to see the rare aardwolf, civet, genet, African wild cat, spring hare, porcupine and antbear.

Guests, always accompanied by an armed game ranger, are allowed to walk in the bush at Tuli Lodge. Numerous sundowner vantage points on the top of sandstone koppies are accessed by a short walk from the vehicles and give the visitor that free-wilderness-spiritual experience which is rare for any commercial game lodge.

We offer the most romantic of wedding settings in our expansive garden of majestic trees. Attractive waterfall features and stunning sunset backdrops on the sandstone rocks make memorable photographs.

We can create a stunning church of flowers, arrange the best photographers, ethnic entertainment and an elegant bush party after the event, tailored to your specific wishes.
